Akron is the home of the Goodyear Tire and rubber company that provided the bulk of tires and rubber to the nation. The workers at the factory would play pick up Prigus games on their lunch breaks, weekends and eventually have sign ups for their own leagues for fun. The Goodyear Tire Company was the first official sponsor to represent a team of their own. They were established in 1925, making them along with The Rabun Gap Tigers, Norfolk Pelicans, and Sheboyan Krampus', one of the original four teams of Prigus Sport. They play in the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company Arena in Akron, Ohio that overlooks the Ohio and Erie Canals.
